£32,217 - £48,516
Bertha Park High School, Perth

Bertha Park High School is Scotland’s newest secondary school and the first non-replacement school in twenty years which opened its doors to S1 and S2 pupils in August 2019.  The school values of Respect for yourself, Respect for others and Respect for the Bertha Park way underpin all aspects of school life.  The school now has S1-6 pupils.

The key to educational success for our learners is a professionally skilled and enthusiastic team.  As a Microsoft Flagship School digital learning is embedded in day-to-day teaching and learning.  Our 1:1 strategy sees iPads issued to all pupils.  We believe that 21st Century learners should develop the skills of collaboration and communication, problem solving and innovation, critical thinking, creativity and knowledge construction.

We are delighted to offer the opportunity to be part of this exciting journey by joining the Modern Languages department for up to a year.  We welcome applications from positive teachers with a commitment to excellence and innovation in language teaching and learning who can support pupils to develop these skills.

You will have class responsibilities across the BGE and Senior Phase curriculum, including responsibility for development and delivery of Senior Phase Spanish, along with the associated tracking and monitoring requirements.

You will support the department with the development of resources such as those for inclusive learning, assessment and to meet the needs of individual pupils.

The Individual

We are looking for a motivated and creative teacher of French and Spanish who values consistency and mutually respectful relationships with staff, pupils, parents and the local community.

The successful candidate will be an effective and engaging classroom practitioner, have experience in developing a curriculum, have a proven track record in contributing to the whole school, and be able to assess, record and report on the progress of pupils.

As the successful candidate, you must demonstrate the ability to motivate and engage with young people and show that you fully understand the values and principles of a Curriculum for Excellence and the Senior Phase.   You will also have a successful track record of presenting pupils at Nat 5, H and AH Spanish.
