In partnership with community planning partners, voluntary and independent provider organisations, we offer a range of services designed to enable, support, improve and protect the health and social care of people using our services.

Requirements

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and committed Social Worker to join our Continuing Care and Aftercare Team.

You will be based in a central location within the local authority. The team provide support to care experienced young people with their transition into adulthood and beyond. With the implementation of The Children & Young People (Scotland) Act 2014 and national policy initiatives such as the ‘Staying Put’ agenda it is an exciting time to be working in this area. In addition, you will be involved in working alongside unaccompanied children who spontaneously enter the local authority and children who arrive as part of the National Transfer Scheme.

This is an opportunity to join a team which will be professionally challenging but at the same time rewarding. You will have personal qualities, professional skills and knowledge which will be applied and tested in all aspects of service delivery. Relationship based social work will underpin practice within the team, therefore you must have the ability to build meaningful relationships with children and young people involved in the service.

Main duties will include complex assessments, case management, evidenced based intervention and recording, and monitoring work using an electronic case record system. You will also have some responsibility for developing different strands of the service, as well as working in conjunction with a range of partner agencies to meet the needs of the children and young people.

It is essential that you have a BA (Hons) in Social Work or equivalent; be registered with the SSSC; are committed to social work values; have good communication, IT, assessment and written skills; be able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative; and have a flexible approach.
